We have all been there – your iPhone battery dies at the most inconvenient time and it is really frustrating!
Is your iPhone draining battery faster than you would like?
Your iPhone is packed full of amazing features, but you don’t need them all, all of the time. Some of these features can be drinking the juice from your battery and causing you a constant need to charge!
Background App Refresh
This is a feature that allows your apps to refresh in the background, for example your Facebook notifications will appear on your phone as they come through. Background app refresh lets apps keep pulling fresh data when you are not using the app.
You can switch this feature off. Go to Settings > General > Background App Refresh and switch to off.
If you would prefer that some apps refresh in the background but not all of them you can set on or off for each individual app, or you can choose to only use background app refresh when you are connected to Wi-Fi.
You can set how frequently the mail app checks for new mail. Go to Settings > Accounts & Passwords > Fetch New Data, you can select fetch, manual or push. Push means new data will be sent to your iPhone whenever it is available, Fetch allows you to select how often the app will check for new data, and manual means the app will only look for new data when it is in use.
For the best battery saving option select manual, you can then open the app and swipe down to refresh as and when you need to check for mail.
Low Power Mode
Low power mode is a helpful feature on the IOS. It switches off background app refresh, slows down some features and slightly reduces lighting to improve battery life. If you are out and cannot charge your phone, this feature can be a lifesaver!
If you have tried the steps above and still find your battery life to be below standard it may be time to replace your battery. It could be that your battery is just tired and you need a new one. Visit your local TC Touch Branch or go to www.tctouch.co.uk, replacing your battery is a fast and reliable service and it can give your iPhone a new lease of life.
